Understanding Oral Disease
When patients have pain, abnormalities, bleeding, or other symptoms that are difficult to diagnose, an oral pathologist works to find the root cause of the issue so it can be effectively treated. Some of the main issues that oral pathologists may diagnose include pain, infections, cavities and tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease, and cancer. Oral diseases might also be tied to other general health issues, including diseases, conditions, medications, lifestyle, or diet. For this reason, an oral pathologist looks at oral health issues and takes the entire body into account.
